

Dr Carles Pedret, MD, PhD, is a sports medicine physician with a PhD in Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Board Certification in Sports Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona. His clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and management of muscle and tendon injuries, with a particular interest in optimising recovery and return to performance in elite athletes.
He combines extensive clinical experience with advanced musculoskeletal imaging, integrating ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures and magnetic resonance imaging into the assessment and management of soft tissue injuries. He is a Visiting Professor of Rehabilitation at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Leeds, and has taught extensively in sports medicine, musculoskeletal imaging and soft tissue injuries at several European universities. Actively involved in clinical research and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals, including the British Journal of Sports Medicine, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine, Skeletal Radiology, Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports and The Lancet.
Based in Barcelona, he works in the Department of Sports Medicine and Medical Imaging at Clínica Diagonal and serves as an independent consultant to professional sports organisations across Europe and North America. He advises clubs and franchises competing in the Premier League, Championship, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Belgian Pro League, NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL on the diagnosis and management of complex muscle and tendon injuries.
