
Miss Shamim Umarji is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London, one of the UK’s busiest Major Trauma Centres, where she is Divisional Chair and has previously served as Clinical Director for Surgery and Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics.
She has over 17 years of experience as a Consultant specialising in the management of acute hand and wrist trauma, elective hand and wrist conditions, and sports-related injuries, with a particular focus on optimising recovery and return to sport. She is Fellowship-trained and has a dedicated hand and wrist practice privately at OneWelbeck in Central London, as well as Nuffield Health Parkside, Wimbledon.
A former national-level rugby and cricket player who achieved ten winning Oxford Blues, Miss Umarji combines her personal sporting experience with specialist expertise in treating athletes at all levels. She has a strong interest in Sports Trauma, Wrist Arthroscopy, Ligament Reconstruction and Innovation in patient care, and is actively involved in research, education and advancing evidence-based practice.
