Athlete brain health has become one of the defining challenges in sport, extending far beyond the immediate management of concussion. Chaired by Professor Ben Jones, this session brings together an outstanding panel of internationally recognised experts from World Rugby, the British Olympic Association and leading academic institutions to explore the latest evidence and practical experience.
Professor Éanna Falvey will discuss how brain health is being prioritised for current players through innovative, real-world approaches. Professor David Sharp (or Professor Richard Sylvester) will examine what science tells us about the retired athlete’s brain, separating evidence from misconception and highlighting areas of uncertainty. Professor Charlotte Cowie will broaden the discussion by exploring the opportunities and challenges of promoting brain health across diverse Olympic sports.
The session concludes with a panel discussion featuring distinguished clinical and research leaders, providing delegates with a unique opportunity to hear differing perspectives, challenge assumptions and consider the future direction of athlete brain health.
