About this Session

This presentation will illustrate the Premier League’s pro-active work on the ‘Shared Space’ of mental health and wellbeing in elite youth academy settings. The session will draw from the growing research evidence related to mental health and wellbeing in athletic populations. It will explore the challenges, opportunities and benefits surrounding interdisciplinary work in this space while recognising the contextual realities of football and youth development environments.

Dr Cherrie Daley
BSc (Hons) MSc PhD C.Psychol AFBPsS

Dr Cherrie Daley has worked in elite sport for the last 20 years. As a practitioner she supported athletes and teams from Welsh Hockey, British Swimming, British Diving, England Rugby and Manchester City FC.

Cherrie held psychology leadership roles within the English Institute of Sport and Manchester City before broadening her experience as Director of Performance Services with the global City Football Group. As an Independent Consultant Cherrie works within business settings and maintains involvement in sport, leading projects for the Premier League, UK Sport and within elite football.

Dr Daley has co-authored several published papers related to mental health and wellbeing and has a special interest in the topics of leadership and culture.
