Mr Dominic O'Dowd is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sheffield Children's Hospital with a specialist interest in child and adolescent sports injuries and sports surgery. He has a transitional adult knee preservation practice at Rotherham District General Hospital.
During Medical School and Registrar training, he undertook the BSc and MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) respectively. Dominic Undertook his Sports Surgery Fellowships with the Unisports Clinic in Auckland, and with Peter Myers at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre (BOSMC). He undertook his Paediatric Fellowships with Quang Dao at Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney, and Stewart Walsh at Starship Hospital in Auckland. He has previously worked extensively in professional sport – 10 years across the men’s FA age development squads, 3 seasons as West Ham 1st Team Doctor, 3 seasons as Blackpool FC Club Doctor, and a Doctor for the British Superbikes, World Superbikes and MotoGP.
Mr O’Dowd currently oversees illness and injury surveillance for the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and is the Performance Director for the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) High Performance Academy.
